François Boucher (French, 1703-1770) is considered the most celebrated French painter and decorative artist of the 18th century. He studied with Louis Galloche and is known for his idyllic paintings of classical themes, decorative allegories, and pastoral scenes in the French Rococo style. His students include  Jacques-Louis David and Jean-Honoré Fragonard, believed to be a distant relative of Berthe Morisot.
