Gustave Clarence Rodolphe Boulanger (French, 1824–1888) was a French figure painter and Academic artist and teacher known for his Classical and Orientalist subjects. He first studied with Pierre-Jules Jollivet and then at the atelier of Paul Delaroche where he met and befriended fellow student Jean-Léon Gérôme. Boulanger’s students included:  Marie Bashkirtseff, Thomas Dewing, Arthur Wesley Dow, Childe Hassam, Gari Melchers, Willard Metcalf, Alphonse Mucha, and Edmund C. Tarbell.
