Jules Joseph Lefebvre (French, 1836-1911) was a figure painter and instructor who studied with Léon Cogniet. He taught over 1500 students at the Académie Julian, many of whom were Americans, including Frank Vincent Dumond, Kenyon Cox and Edmund Tarbell.
