At the end of my long drive from NY through CT and RI to MA, I was rewarded with a healing sound bath!
Gong baths are a type of inactive meditation, where you “bathe” in the healing power of sound, leaving you feeling refreshed. The vibrations of gongs can relieve pain, release stress, enhance immune function and encourage the brain to relax into Alpha and Theta brainwaves.
The event was held in the amazing stone barn at Massachusetts Audubon Society’s Allen’s Pond Sanctuary. The open doors let in the delightful breeze and the glorious sounds of songbirds.
My friend Joy (at right, above) and her gong partner Subhadra (at left) used singing bowls, chimes, tuning forks and other instruments in addition to gongs to create their vibrational magic…and I emerged feeling fabulous!
And later Joy and I watched the film, We All Just Need To Gong!, which can be viewed for free, here (originally the free viewing was only through July 4th, but that has been extended!)
